Professional Risk & Asset Management has accumulated a comprehensive and detailed knowledge of all aspects of the security industry, with specific focus on warehousing, distribution, aviation and cargo security. 

The company has specialised in all aspects of aviation, since 1983 including aircraft sales and the operation of passenger and cargo aircraft.            

Rob Garbett is a member of the Council of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.   He is currently the President of BAASA (The Business Aviation Association of South Africa) and a board member of CAASA (The Commercial Aviation Association of Southern Africa). He serves on various Air Cargo Security Committee.

Prior to joining Professional Aviation Services, Rob was the managing director, and major shareholder, in Advertising Deadlines and Freight (Pty) Ltd, a domestic air courier company that he founded in 1980. The company was sold to its major competitor in 1982.  Rob’s experience in the movement of cargo extends over more than 45 years. 

Christine Garbett, qualified as an instrument rated commercial pilot, has flown several single engine solo ferry flights between Europe and South Africa and numerous passenger flights into the Okavango Delta.

Christine is primarily responsible for administration and finance and Rob for systems, sales and marketing as well as responsibilities as managing director.

Both are Fellows of the Institute of Directors (IoD) in Southern Africa and have served on the IoD committee responsible for environmental matters.

Gerhard van Zyl is the general manager.   Gerhard holds a B-com degree (major law), a private pilot’s licence and is the only South African to appear in the Guinness Record Book for Golf.   He has extensive international experience which included specific focus on logistics and supply chain management, particularly in Africa.   Gerhard was managing director of a subsidiary of Paradigm Interactive Media Limited, a company listed on the Johannesburg stock exchange at the time.  He too is a member of the IoD.  Gerhard’s prime responsibilities are operations, sales and client liaison.      

Rob and Gerhard are registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) as Grade A Security Officers.  

The company is proud to have achieved a BBBEE score card rating (auditor verified) of AAA – Level Two.

The experience of executives and staff in a wide range of security, logistics, aviation and other business activities, together with an intimate involvement in warehouse and distribution operations, extending over decades, ensures a sharp and innovative edge when dealing with diverse logistics and security situations.  

The company offers all aspects of risk control services, primarily providing skilled teams of staff, and the introduction of systems, to improve the secure movement of stock or cargo and was the first company who, from the outset of the cargo security regulations provided specialist services in respect of Part 108(Cargo Security).  Guarding, VIP protection, fingerprint and CCTV systems and a variety of covert activities also forms part of the company’s portfolio of services.
